What is the difference between GPS and GNSS?

GPS (Global Positioning System) is a satellite-based navigation system developed and operated by the US Department of Defense. It uses a network of 24 satellites that orbit the Earth to provide precise location and time information to GPS receivers on the ground.

GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) is an umbrella term for all satellite navigation systems, including GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou and QZSS. While GPS is the most widely used GNSS system, other regional or global navigation systems are being developed to provide additional accuracy and coverage.
